Announcing ACTI Faculty Fellows for Spring 2016

It is with great pleasure that we announce the 2016 ACTI Faculty Fellows! The Academy of Catholic Thought and Imagination’s mission is unique among Catholic university centers in that we are particularly committed to supporting faculty who are contributing to the Catholic intellectual tradition in their particular discipline within the university. Loyola Marymount has a wealth of promising scholars who are doing important work in their field and contributing to the dialogue of faith, culture, and university. Please join us in congratulating our new fellows:

Kelly Younger, Ph.D., Professor of English
TRIGGER WARNING, is a full-length play about a Jesuit professor grappling with issues of academia and “words that inflict as well as instruct.” Younger will dramatizes the Catholic intellectual tradition in action and engage a national conversation in higher education by developing a play for performance at universities and theatres across the country.

Erin C. Stackle, Ph.D., Assistant Professor of Philosophy
Her project will investigate whether there is anything uniquely Catholic in Thomas Aquinas’ method of interpreting Aristotle’s treatment of health in Metaphysics through careful translation of Aristotle’s text.

Victor Carmona, Ph.D., Assistant Professor of Biology
“Jesuit Science in Latin America: Revolutionizing Academic Tourism in the Evolution of Social Justice,” will engage science, global study, social justice, and Pope Francis’ encyclical call to transformative contributions of teacher-scholarship of ecological systems and the environmental justice in human systems.

We thank all that applied for their worthy research and congratulate the three new fellows.

Applications for the 2016-2017 academic year are due on March 8, 2016. Click here for more information.
