The Academy of Catholic Thought and Imagination (ACTI) and the Center of Urban Resilience (CURes) at Loyola Marymount University will hold a four-part series Laudato Si’ and Climate Change in the Spring 2016 semester.
The series, organized by Dr. Brian Treanor (ACTI) and Dr. Eric Strauss (CURes), will include:
- LMU professor Jeremy Pal, PhD. of the ICPP (Nobel Prize 2007)
- encyclical consultant and theologian Fr. Sean McDonagh, SCC
- award-winning journalist, climate change author Naomi Klein
- screening of the film This Changes Everything
Naomi Klein and Fr. Sean McDonagh were invited speakers by Pope Francis at the Vatican conference on climate change. With the addition of LMU’s own expert on climate change, this series will brings together science, film, culture, and faith to dialogue about the strengths, weaknesses, and implications of climate change and Pope Francis’ ecological encyclical Laudato Si’.
